Resettlement
Relocating a tarantula, whether it's for transport or upgrading the terrarium, requires a certain amount of care. Here are some tips on how to successfully carry out this operation:
Safe environment
Choose a quiet and safe place to carry out the transfer, such as a bathtub (with the lid closed) or a large plastic box. The aim is to reduce the risk of escape and minimize stress for the animal. Carry out the transfer on the floor to avoid the risk of falling. If the tarantulas are arboreal, you can use a piece of bark or cork as a guide.
Gentle handling
Use a soft brush to guide the tarantula. Avoid touching its belly, as this part of its body is very sensitive. Gently touch its hind legs to guide it into the new terrarium.
Advice and patience
Once the tarantulas have moved into their new terrarium, give them time to settle in.
You can wait two days before feeding your tarantulas after a move. The stress associated with the change in environment can disrupt their digestive system.
After molting, they should not be fed for a few days.
